Thanks MiniMonos Staff Thursday

Hey monkeys!
As some monkeys may know, today MiniMonos has reached 500,000 MONKEYS! That is an outstanding achievement for any website, and really deserves some recognition.

Some monkeys have decided to make this day even more special for the MiniMonos staff, so therefore today shall be known as "Thanks MiniMonos Staff Thursday"!
P.S. It is Thursday in New Zealand where most of the MiniMonos staff are, but Wednesday in UK/US!


I could blabber off all day about how much I love MiniMonos and what a great job I think the staff do, but I won't!!! Instead, here is what some monkeys around the island have said!

Back in July, when MiniMonos had ONLY 250,000 monkeys, half of what there is now, here is what MissDawg said about MiniMonos' outstanding achievements!

Each of those 250,000 kids has helped change the world. Here's how:
Clean water for kids in India
Every time someone buys a Gold membership or virtual good on MiniMonos, a child in India gets clean water through our partnership with Buy1Give1 and the Bird India charity. Our partnership with renewable power company Meridian Energy also provided a year of clean water for 20 kids! So far MiniMonos kids have helped provide 18,492 days of clean water to children in India.
Adopting Orangutans
We adopted our first orangutan, Monti, to celebrate our first 50 Gold members, and our second, Kesi, when we reached 250. We welcomed Pingky and Neng to the MiniMonos Orangutan Family when we officially launched out of Beta. Our "adoptions" go to support the work of the extraordinary Orangutan Outreach organization.
But that's not all! Two of our extraordinary MiniMonos members, Viper and Calypso were so moved by the plight of the orangutans that they adopted their own orangutans! Last September they adopted Mimi and Momo, seen here. Viper and Calypso have been a part of the MiniMonos community since the beginning, and have shown themselves to be such incredible leaders that they have officially joined the staff!
Contributed to the WWF Tiger Initiative
Just because "MiniMonos" means "Little Monkeys" doesn't mean we only support primates! Another project we got behind was the WWF Tiger Initiative. We partnered with WWF-NZ to sell virtual tiger suits -- and every time a MiniMonos member buys a tiger suit for their online monkey to wear, a donation gets made to the WWF TX2 project to double the wild tiger population by 2022.
MiniMonos EcoMonkeys completing real-world projects
Of all the ways MiniMonos members have made the world a better place, the MiniMonos EcoMonkey program is probably the one we're most proud of -- because it's driven by the kids themselves, making an extraordinary difference, every day, in their own communities.
The recently launched MiniMonos EcoMonkey program supports kids to tackle a real-world environmental project and earn virtual rewards on MiniMonos Island. They publish their ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos, explain why they chose their eco-project, and describe how they feel when they have completed it.
One determined US player, MiniJghRocks, campaigned to have a paper recycling program implemented at his school. Although his principals agreed, the superintendent reversed the decision, saying that similar programs in near-by schools had failed due to lack of support from the students. As MiniJghRocks explained: “Since it costs money to recycle (at least where I live) they decided it wasn’t worth the extra funds to put in something that wouldn’t be used. It makes sense right? Well, we then decided to start a petition, to prove that kids would actually use the recycling system!” The result was over 500 student signatures.
MiniJghRocks also enlisted the help of his math teacher to calculate that the amount of paper his school throws away, translated to 1,540 trees cut down per year. He wrote: “Next, we presented to our superintendent, showing him the facts, signatures, and a bit of the EcoMonkey Blog. He sat listening for a while, and [when] we finished, he, in response, also signed our petition!”
On successful implementation of the recycling program at his school, MiniJghRocks described it as: “Awesome! It’s soooo awesome. I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot and have truly changed the world, even if it’s just a little. I’m very happy. It’s just so cool :D” You can read all about MiniJghRocks' EcoMonkey Project here.
Other MiniMonos players have created eco-projects such as switching to eco-light bulbs, up-cycling old clothes to make toys, planting gardens, making useful items out of recycled materials and cleaning rivers and lakes. In all, a lot of kids have completed eco-projects so far!
Our aim with the MiniMonos EcoMonkey program is simple: One million kids taking real-world eco-action as a result of playing on MiniMonos.

That is pretty impressive! All that just from one game for kids!
Let's take this day to show how much we appreciate all the MiniMonos does for us, all the times that they forgive us, all the times that they care for us!

Thanks to AlphaMonkey and MissDawg especially. Without them, MiniMonos wouldn't exist at all. They started MiniMonos with no pay at all, and with the main purpose as "educating kids about the environment". I bet they never guessed how many lives they would change by starting it!
Thanks also to EcoMom! She has been with MiniMonos from early on, and has worked SUPER HARD for MiniMonos, yet she still finds time to login and play some Monkey Fist... LOL! I am sure MiniMonos wouldn't be the same without her!
Also, a special mention to the team that keeps MiniMonos running, often "behind the scenes"! This includes Monty, BadgerFox, Zinky, Ostrich, Tuck, and a few more I can't think of right now!
Thanks as well to Bananatastic, who is always willing to do everything with a positive attitude! He works very hard and does a lot of graphics too, and still manages to squeeze in some of the best parties I have ever seen... LOL!
And how could I forget, Manx and Viper!!! Manx and Viper are always ontop of the MiniMonos Moderation and don't allow any naughty monkeys to chat on MiniMonos, hehe! Just imagine what MiniMonos would be like without them, LOL!

Half A Million Monkeys :O

MiniMonos has nearly reached HALF A MILLION MONKEYS!
Here is more information about the day:

I have some BANANAMAZING news to share... we'll soon have 500,000 monkeys on MiniMonos!!!
We'll be celebrating this monktastic event tomorrow!

Tomorrow (Wednesday UK and US) we're having a few parties so keep your eyes banana-peeled on shout-outs!  We'll let you know 15 minutes before one starts!

500,000 is such a HUGE number -- thank you monkeys! We're so excited and can't wait to party with you!

Bananatastic's Clay Creation

Hey monkeys!
Bananatastic has created something to show us :O Here it is:

I just finished sculpting a MiniMonos monkey head in the sculpture class that I'm taking this year at school!
Using clay, I was able to form my head in a week. Once I finished shaping the head it was time to put it in the kiln so the clay could harden. This is my head right now:


My next step is going to be painting it, which I plan to do this upcoming week.
I'm thinking about making the monkey's mohawk lime green and the fur brown. What do you think?

MiniMonos Funniest Pumpkin Finale

Hey monkeys!
Here is the Funniest Pumpkin all finished!

We had a lot of fun these past two weeks drawing and coloring hilarious funny pumpkin faces! :-)
With over 35 entries, we made EcoMom eat a donut, voted on our favorite pumpkin faces, inspired Tuck to create some of the funny pumpkins in Mutts Gallery, and the best of all... laugh our tails off!
After watching the MiniMonos pumpkinface video, monkeys voted for their favorite pumpkins to get created in real life...by me!
Pumpkin #7 and pumpkin #30 from were a tie... so I decided to recreate both of them!

Hey monkeys!
As today is Halloween in some countries, (and for others it is tommorow), all of us at That MiniMonos Blog would like to wish you a...

 

To do this, we'd like to show you something made by one of the oldest and friendliest monkeys on MiniMonos! This monkey is very good friends with Bananatastic, she is always willing to help everymonkey and this monkey is also an author of a few books and has more on the way! MiniMonos has made an awesome post, here it is!

WOOT! Badgerfox made a strawberry pie for the MiniMonos staff to celebrate the end of Color Week and the pie hunt quest!

Nom nom nom! It was the strawbest monkeytastic pie EVER!! So what could possibly be better than that!?
Well, some monkeys commented on Bananatastic's Weekly Wonder post, where Badgerfox asked you what your favorite pie is!   And those monkeys who put in their comments last week have a special gift from Badgerfox!

Make Your OWN Bug Mask!

Hey monkeys!
Bananatastic has posted a video on how to make your own bug mask! Here it is with more information about it:

I've been going through materials around my house and decided i'd make a video teaching you all how to make a MiniMonos Bug Mask!
To create the bug mask you're going to need the following items (which can be found around your house):

• Two paper plates or two pieces of paper
• Scissors (ask a parent for help!)
• Crayons, markers, paint, or colored pencils
• Printable stencil. (Click HERE for stencil)

How to Play MiniMonos On Ipad!

Hi monkey iPad owners!
Most of would be annoyed that your iPad cant play MiniMonos (like me), but now they can! Here are the steps for how to play MiniMonos on iPad!Also please note that these exact same steps will also work for Club Penguin, and almost any other flash-based game or virtual world! Woot!

Step one: Go to the appstore on your ipad
Step 2: Search "iSwifter"

Step 3: It should look like this:

Step 4: Download! its free for 30 minutes so you can try it, any longer than that. you need to pay $6 NZ

The New MiniMonos Robot Word Search!

Hey monkeys! Are you ready for a challenge? Great! Then prepare for the latest word search on MiniMonos!

Robots were introduced on MiniMonos in late 2010 and ever since then monkeys have been visitng Einsteins lab every day to build their very own pet robots. MiniMonos Wiki: Help Us Keep It Active!

Hey monkeys!
Our great friend and MiniMonos Mogger, Yawn, has posted on the Go Bananas Blog to tell us all to keep the MiniMonos Wiki active!
Here is what he wrote :D

If you didn't notice, we have our very own offcial MiniMonos wiki!
Click here to check out the MiniMonos Wiki or find it on the Blogroll of Honor and Awesomeness!
This is very cool! Only one thing; it's outdated!
We need as many monkeys as we can to make pages, edit pages add new items etc.  If we can all contribute to the wiki, then new monkeys and senior monkeys can use it if they need help with something or just to look at :-)
It's up to us monkeys -- the ambassadors will help us a bit -- to update the wiki! WOOT!

 Oooh! Nice! I LOVE the idea to keep the MiniMonos Wiki updated! It has not been updated pretty much since it first came out, AGES ago! I know I will do my best to help it keep active and awesome. Will you help it out too?
Maybe MiniMonos will even give intensives for monkeys to help it grow! That sounds like a bananamazing idea.

MiniMonos Beach Ball Search!

Hey Monkeys!
First of all, Welcome to the new "Minimonos Blog" :)
There is a scavenger hunt for beach balls of the party master blog!
Here is some of the post from Bananatastic, for more information!

August has just started and many MiniMonos monkeys are getting ready to start school again sometime this month or in the beginning of September!
With that being said, it's time to celebrate the last days of summer in August and I thought it'd be fun if we had a little scavenger hunt! This is how it works...

(NOTE: The beach ball in the picture about does NOT count. There is another beach ball with the number 6 hiding some place around the Party Master blog)
Around the Party Master blog there are 6 beach balls hidden and ach beach ball has a number on it (Numbered 1 - 6).
Go through the pages on the Party Master blog to find the hidden beach balls.
Once you've found them, leave a comment on this post telling us where you found each beach ball!
Everymonkey between now and August 5th who successfully finds all beach balls will be rewarded with 500 banana chips on MiniMonos!
