Naughty Rena: Real-Life Oil Spill DISASTER

Hey monkeys!
A good friend of mine, TommyPP has posted about an oil spill! Here is what he said:
EcoMom suggested that I write something on Go Bananas about an oil spill here in New Zealand that has made it hard for the people that live on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island.
A ship called "Rena" is stuck on the Astrolabe reef. The ship hit the Astrolabe reef at 17 knots which is 30 kilometres/hour!
These are some of the latest pictures of Rena.

Look at all this oil slick.

It is hurting the birdlife, too!

This is a terrible event for our environment and the animals and people who live here. I hope it never happens again!
What do you think about the oil spill?
-Tommypp
D: This is really bad! I hope everybody stays safe in New Zealand! Including the animals D:

Monkey Fact Monday!

Hey Monkeys!
This week Yawn decided to write a Monkey Fact Monday about Golden Lion Monkeys, or as some people like to call them -- Golden Lion tamarin. You'll find that these monkeys are pretty unique.

You can see from the picture above that Golden Lion Monkeys are small yellow-orange monkeys.
Yawn found some really interesting facts about these monkeys. The adult golden lion monkeys only weigh about 17-24 ounces. As you can see, they get the lion part of their name from the lion-like mane around their necks! Golden lion monkeys have hugely long tails -- most of them measure up to 16 inches, that's longer than their whole body!
Hope you enjoyed Monkey Fact Monday this week!

MiniMonos Monkey Fact Monday!

Hey there monkeys!
Hope everyone had a really good weekend because its Monday! WOOP!
Lets start the week off with some fun Monkey Facts!

The Japanese Snow Monkey is a very interesting type of monkey. Of course if you couldn't tell, they come from Japan. Hehe! You might also know these monkeys by the name of 'Japanese Macaque'.

I find these monkeys funny because they orginated in Japan, but live in many places in Texas, United States! Crazy right? :D

If you haven't seen these monkeys before, check out the picture below, they are just adorable!

As you can see from the beautiful picture, Japanese Snow Monkeys have red faces, and a super-warm coat for the winter. Another thing this photo unfortunately didn't capture was their abnormally short tails. It's not so common for a monkey to have a short tail, but not for these monkeys! :D

Hope you enjoyed this week's Monkey Fact Monday! Let us know your thoughts on these primates. ^.^
